Will County Sheriff Sued by Family of Man Killed by Squad Car
On April 4th of this year, Anthony May Jr. was hit by a squad car and died three days later. His family has filed suit against the Will County Sheriff’s Department in regards to the accident.
May had been walking south on Briggs Street near Elgin Avenue at approximately 11:15 p.m. when the southbound squad car hit him. May was in the road about 4-5 feet from the shoulder. It is unknown why May was in the middle of the road.
May was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in critical condition and died there on April 7th. The unnamed deputy was unharmed in the accident that occurred while he was on patrol duty. He has since been put on administrative leave. According to court records, May’s mother has filed a lawsuit against the Sheriff’s department, seeking more that $50,000.
