Three-Vehicle Collision in Iroquois County
A three-vehicle accident in Iroquois County is being investigated by Illinois State Police. The crash occurred on Interstate 57 and happened around 12:50 a.m.early Tuesday morning. It, unfortunately, claimed the lives of two people, Police have reported that a 26-year-old man from Onarga and a 21-year-old woman from Pembroke Township in Kankakee County were the two victims who were killed in the crash. Police say the driver of the car was traveling southbound on I-57, just five miles north of Paxton, at mile-marker 266. For a reason that is still unknown, a car crossed the center median and hit another car. According to Police, a semi-truck driver that was also traveling northbound then hit the second car causing the backseat passengers to be ejected. When police arrived, they found the driver of the car that crossed the median and a passenger of the second car and were both pronounced dead at the scene. The other four passengers were injured, including a three-week-old infant, who was air-lifted to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
