Suspected gas main explosion destroys two house, kills one man.
Braidwood was the scene of a fire that destroyed two houses and damaged a third on Wednesday April 6, 2011. Mark Lipinsky was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.
When Braidwood firefighters arrived at the scene all three houses were on fire. According to Fire Chief Ken Heberer the house that was in the middle was “fully involved” in flames and the fire had spread to the houses on either side of it. Lipinsky was found badly burned in his home before being transferred to Loyola where he died in the late morning on April 12
While a gas main explosion is suspected, the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office and Braidwood police.
