Skokie Boy Killed in Crash Cause by Driver Charged With DUI
An 8-year-old child who was riding his bike on Monday afternoon died from head trauma after being hit by an intoxicated driver.
The crash took place on May 21, 2012 in Skokie around 4:30 p.m. Carter Vo was riding his bike on the sidewalk as a crash took place on the intersection of Main and St. Louis Avenue. The first car was southbound on St. Louis Avenue and was turning east onto Main Street when it hit a second car. The driver of the first car lost control of her vehicle and hit the boy on the northeast corner. The first car then hit a third car.
The boy was pushed into another car and suffered multiple injuries to his head. He died later that night. Another person was treated for superficial cuts. The driver of the first car, Hanin Goma, was charged with a felony count of aggravated driving under the influence resulting in a death and a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of drugs.
