Single-Vehicle Crash Leaves Two Men Dead
Two men lost their lives in a single car accident that occurred just after midnight on Sunday near the Iroquois County Fairgrounds in Crescent City. A third man was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum determined that Curtis Riston II, of Watseka, was driving east on 2000N Road in Iroquois County that was damp from storms on late Saturday night and early Sunday. When Riston, 23, hit a ridge in the road, he lost control of the vehicle. Riston and his passenger, 23-year-old Patrick Bechley, were thrown from the vehicle.
Riston was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Bechley, of Spring, Texas, was taken to Riverside Medical Center wher he later died. A second passenger, Jalon Taden, was initially taken to Iroquois Medical Center and later transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. His injuries were non-life threatening.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iroqouis County Sherriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police.
