The two-vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Route 45/52 and 11000N Road, although details about the nature of the car accident were not released.
The Manteno Fire Department responded to the accident site at around 10:30 p.m. Initially, the Manteno fire chief Scott O’Brien said, they believed it was a single-vehicle accident with only four people involved. When they arrived at the scene, however, there were two vehicles and seven people injured.
According to O’Brien, two people had to be helped from their damaged vehicle. When authorities arrived at the scene, bystanders were already trying to assist the injured.
