Semi-Tractor Trailer and Charter Bus Crash In Iroquois County
An afternoon crash between a semi-tractor trailer and a charter bus sent ten to the hospital. The collision occurred southbound on Interstate 57 near the Onarga exit at mile marker 280. According to Illinois State Police District 21 and their initial investigation, both the semi-tractor trailer and the charter bus were traveling southbound and the charter bus rear-ended the semi-tractor trailer. Of the 30 passengers on the bus, nine sustained minor injuries causing them to receive medical attention. The driver of the bus, Richard M. Willoughby, 66, of Tuscola, also received medical attention. The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old man from Jacksonville, Fla., was not injured. Willoughby was issued a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
