Round Lake Head-on Crash Leaves One Woman Dead
A 22-year-old Mundelein man faces charges related to a fatal car accident that occurred in Round Lake.
On November 21st, Mark Oelerich was driving north on Cedar Lake Road. At approximately 9:17 p.m., an officer with the Round Lake Police department discovered the head-on crash involving Oelerich and Araceli Villasenor, 24, who was driving south on the same road. Vilasenor and the three children in her vehicle were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m.
Oelerich was treated at the same hospital and later released. He was cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, speeding and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol that resulted in death. Oelerich was arrested upon his release from the hospital and remains in jail on a $1 million bond.
