Police Looking for Owner of Vehicle Involved in Hit and Run
A fatal hit and run car accident occurred this week, and Aurora police are now looking for the owner of the vehicle that was identified in the incident. Theresa Burns, 57, was struck by a Geo Metro this past Monday night while she and another teacher who she worked with were trying to help a student get to safety after she sat down in the road.
Burns and her co-worker were able to get the student to safety, but both were struck by the vehicle, which fled the scene. Burns was pronounced dead at the scene, while her co-worker was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
The owner of the Geo Metro involved in the accident was identified as Gustavo Villarreal, 44, and his family has since reported him missing. He has not yet been charged in the event or identified as the driver of the vehicle, but police are looking for him.
Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim.
