Investigators are looking into what may have caused a woman from Watseka to cross over the center line in her Ford Fusion moments before her vehicle collided head-on with a pickup truck last Friday, as reported by the news-gazette.com. The incident occurred just about five miles southeast of Watseka on Illinois 1.
Iroquois County Coroner Bill Cheatum reported that the driver of the Ford Fusion was later pronounced dead at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, despite having been found alive at the scene of the accident. Though an autopsy was not performed, Cheatum told The News-Gazette that a toxicology report was ordered and performed on the deceased. The pickup truck driver survived the accident with only minor injuries.
