Pedestrian struck by Trailblazer in Beach Park

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois has reported that a 57-year-old woman from Beach Park was killed by a 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by 32-year-old Kenosha resident Ryan Lane.

The woman, whose name has been withheld until police are able to notify her family, was attempting to cross Sheridan Road at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, when she was struck by the Trailblazer. She was using a walker to cross the street with a friend after the two had just left a gas station, where they purchased two bottles of vodka.

According to the store clerk, the woman may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. Samples were taken from both she and Lane to determine if alcohol was a factor, and the toxicology reports are still pending.

Police deputies who arrived on the scene of the accident administered CPR to the victim and employed the use of an automated external defibrillator in their efforts to revive her until emergency medical responders could arrive.
