Medicare and Medicaid deny funds to Joan Rivers’ NY clinic
Yorkville Endoscopy, the New York clinic that treated Joan Rivers until her death, has been blocked from receiving Medicare and Medicaid funds, the New York Times reported on January 12.
This move is a significant blow to the clinic, as it affects both its reputation and financial income. Yorkville Endoscopy reportedly failed to correct problems related to the failure to identify deteriorating vital signs and providing immediate respite for patients.
This is the same New York City clinic where 81-year-old comedian and television host Joan Alexandra Molinsky, commonly known as Joan Rivers, died from lack of oxygen during an endoscopy in September 2014.
The clinic issued a statement assuring that they would fight to overturn this decision.
