A Manteno woman died as a result head-on collision that occurred on Route 50 last Wednesday’s morning.
Dorothy Jackson, 75, was driving southbound on Route 50 just north of Manteno around 10000 North Road. For reasons that are not clear, Jackson’s Saturn crossed over to the northbound lane and her car was hit by a freight truck around 12:20 p.m. According to reports, the truck was hauling a dump trailer.
Jackson had to be extricated from her car but was pronounced dead at the scene. Manteno police had been on their way to the scene just before the accident happened due to reports of an erratic driver in the area. No tickets were issued in regards to the accident and it remains under investigation.
This is the second fatal accident in Kankakee County on Route 50 in five days. Kaley Little, 9, lost her life in a car accident on October 13th at 6000 North Road on Route 50 in Bourbonnais.
