UPDATE: Fatal crash on Route 49 kills Watseka man

New details have been released regarding the accident on Monday that resulted in the death of a Watseka man. Authorities believe that the 78-year-old from rural Watseka died after his Toyota Prius collided with an Acura MDX while he was trying to turn on 2300 North Road. The Acura, driven by a mother with her three children in the car, was heading northbound on Route 1 at the time of the crash. The man was not wearing his seatbelt and his airbags did not deploy. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the mother and three children were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
