Family of cyclist killed by truck files lawsuit against driver
The family of a woman who was killed in a bicycle-truck accident filed a lawsuit against the driver of the truck last Monday, August 1 in Cook County Court in Illinois.
Twenty-five-year-old Virginia Murray was hit by a flatbed truck owned by AB Hardwood Flooring and Supplies on Friday, July 1 around 9 a.m. The truck, driven by Cosmin Radu, was heading north on Sacramento Avenue near Belmont Avenue in Chicago at the time of the incident.
According to preliminary investigations, Radu’s truck crashed into Murray’s bike as both of them were trying to turn east on Belmont Avenue. Jeffrey Kroll, the family’s legal counsel, said Murray, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and was an “experienced cyclist”, was not at fault. She was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and declared dead on arrival. She graduated from the University of Illinois and was a Blue Cross Blue Shield employee.
