A recent fatal accident on Illinois Route 50 has reopened the the door on an issue regarding a dangerous roadway. A portion of Illinois Route 50 between Bourbonnais and Manteno has been the location of multiple fatal accidents and has taken the lives of six people since 2006.
The most recent accident occurred on Wednesday when a 75-year-old woman was involved in a head on-collision on the stretch of road between 6000N and12000N.
The woman was traveling northbound when she collided with the freight truck just after 12:20 p.m. Emergency crews responded to the scene after the accident occurred and was pronounced dead on the scene. Officials are looking how to correct this serious issue.
Our deepest condolences are with the friends and family of the victims at this time.
