Driver in Wrong-Way Accident on Bishop Ford Expressway Dies
The driver in a wrong-way crash that occurred in April has died from his injuries.
On April 30, 2012, Kenneth Owens was driving his Chevy Malibu southward in the northbound lanes of the Bishop Ford Expressway. He hit the Honda Accord driven by Ronnie Head, of Dolton, which was then hit by a tanker truck.
Head, 54, was pronounced dead shortly after the accident at the scene. Owens was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he died on May 15. Illinois state Police stated that they felt alcohol appeared to be a factor in the accident. Owens was also found to be driving on a license that had been suspended in March 2012 for not having proper insurance.
