Bone & Joint Institute physicians sued for alleged prescription errors
Kimberly Jansen has filed a lawsuit against two physicians, namely, Dr. Jeffrey Visotsky and Dr. Susan Lewandowski, and the hospital they work for, Illinois Bone & Joint Institute of Morton Grove in Cook County Circuit Court. In her suit, she claims that due to them prescribing an inappropriate dosage of a medication she had to take after her hand surgery, her life was imperiled because of complications.
The lawsuit, filed on Tuesday, August 25, claims that the defendants had been guilty of malpractice. It alleges that on June 12, 2013, Visotsky and Lewandowski operated on Jansen’s hand to repair a fractured metacarpal bone at Golf Surgical Center in Des Plaines.
They then prescribed Keflex as a prophylactic against infection, however, the dosage that they asked her to take caused a Clostridium difficile infection, Jansen claimed.
