Aerosol Sunscreen Products Recalled by Manufacturers Of Banana Boat Sunscreen
A variety of Banana Boat Aerosol Sunscreen products are being recalled by Energizer Holdings because of reports of fire danger when using these products.
On October 19th, the company announced the recall that includes products such as UltraMist Sport, UltraMist Ultra Defense and UltraMist Kids. This is happening because of five separate reports of consumers suffering burns after using the product. Four of these reports came from the United States and the fifth came from Canada.
A company spokesman stated that the valve sticks and over applies the lotion. When too much lotion is applied it takes longer to dry. And should that product come near an open flame, it can ignite. One case involved a man standing near a BBQ grill while another involved a woman working with welding equipment.
The aerosol product has become more popular in the last few years because it is faster and easier to apply than traditional sunscreen products. The products were distributed to wholesalers and retailers from January 2010 till September 30, 2012.
