Accident on northbound I-57 causes traffic buildup
A semi-truck accident on Interstate 57 caused traffic in the area to back up on Tuesday morning
According to officials with the Illinois State Police, a semi-truck overturned just after 5 a.m., but details were still unknown about what caused the accident later in the morning. There were injuries involved, but specifics are still not known.
Traffic was reduced to one lane so that emergency crews could clear the scene. The other lanes of traffic were reopened at 11 a.m. The investigation into the accident is continuing at this time.
