A woman in her twenties was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car on Friday night.
On Interstate-55, an Illinois State trooper was investigating a crash that occurred on the inside shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-55 just north of Woodward Avenue near the DuPage County/Will County border on November 16th.
At approximately 5:26 p.m., the young woman picking up her boyfriend involved in that crash was walking towards the trooper’s vehicle when a third car struck the center median and then hit the woman. The third vehicle then continued traveling south and hit the state trooper’s vehicle.
The impact sent the woman into the northbound lanes of I-55. She was not hit by any oncoming traffic but she was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in serious condition. The officer was treated and released from a local hospital. The 36-year-old driver of the third vehicle was taken for evaluation to a local hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
