14 fatalities recorded in Illinois over Labor Day weekend
The Illinois State Police said they conducted almost 7,000 traffic stops, took 121 intoxicated drivers into custody, and listed 14 fatalities over the Labor Day weekend, September 2 to 5.
Aside from this, troopers also gave 3,386 citations and 4,000 written warnings, performed 783 commercial motor vehicle inspections, and gave aid to almost 1,000 stranded pedestrians and motorists.
In a statement, Illinois State Police Colonel Tad Williams said, “The concentration of the effort focused on the most common causes of personal injury and fatality crashes; DUI, Speeding, Seat Belt compliance, and Distracted Driving. I am pleased with the results from the hard work and dedication of the brave men and women of the ISP.”
