12 people injured in multiple vehicle crash near Peotone
On Thursday afternoon, at least seven accidents that occurred on both north and south bound I-57, near Peotone, were reported. Due to the accidents, 12 people sustained injuries, though none life-threatening.
The main accident involved a semi-truck that was on fire. Unfortunately, according to officials and emergency responders, getting to the truck was difficult, as numerous other cars surrounding it had crashed as well, likely due to fog and low visibility. As a result, the responding emergency crews had to use cranes and other extrication equipment to reach the 18-wheeler.
As a result of the accidents, the state police closed around 6 miles of the road for several hours.
