Collision with Kankakee School Bus sends Four to Hospital

It has been reported that a Kankakee school bus was involved in a collision. According to reports, a Toyota Prius collided with the bus at the intersection of South Fourth Avenue and West Hawkins Street.

The collision led to three of the eight total school bus passengers being transported to Ascension St. Mary Hospital for treatment. Kankakee District 111 Superintendent Genevra Walters said that the three transported to the hospital were two students and one adult. Police reported that the driver of the Prius was also transported to St. Mary with injuries to her head, back, and neck.

According to reports, the collision occurred when the Toyota Prius, which was traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on South Fourth Avenue, failed to see and abide by a yield sign. The Prius then crashed into the right side of the rear of the school bus causing it to go completely airborne.
