1 dead, 5 injured in Interstate 90 single-limousine crash
A woman lost her life while five other individuals were injured when the limousine they were onboard veered off the Jane Addams Memorial Roadway along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90, just west of Route 25 near Elgin, Illinois on Friday, March 25 at around 7:10 a.m.
According to the Illinois State Police, the deceased was identified as 53-year-old Monona, Wisconsin resident Teri Schmidt, while the injured were identified as 61-year-old Louis Corning and 64-year-old Donald Corning, both of Verona; 53-year-old Robert Rosa and 45-year-old Michael Johnson, both of Fitchburg; and 59-year-old Monona resident Kevin Schmidt.
Schmidt and all the other injured had been passengers in the 1998 Lincoln Town Car limousine that was driven by a 20-year-old Janesville man.
According to preliminary investigations, the driver caused the vehicle to crash into a wall and flip over because he was unable to see the road for quite some time due to sunlight. The crash continues to be under investigation by the authorities.
