A woman was killed and a man was injured in a two-vehicle car crash near west suburban Maple Park on October 7.
According to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 11:50 a.m.
32-year old Shanay Martin was driving a 2000 Mercury Marquis westbound on Rt. 38 when she swerved to avoid hitting a line of stopped cars, but struck a 1987 Chevrolet pickup heading east on Rt. 38 instead.
Martin was pronounced dead at the Delnor Hospital. The 35-year old driver of the pickup, whose identity was not revealed, received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries at the same hospital.
Meredith and Watson roads were closed as officials investigated the crash.
