Woman Walking Dog hit by Drunk Driver
On a clear Friday night in Wilmington, a woman walking her dog was hit by a drunk driver.
The 58-year-old Wilmington resident was walking her dog on the side of the 1200 block of Sunset Drive on October 26th. Witnesses reported that around 7 p.m. they saw a black Ford Bronco swerving on the road before it hit the woman.
The victim was hospitalized and then air-lifted to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Bronco, Andrew Peterson, was arrested and booked into the county jail. The 24-year-old Wilmington resident was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
