Lexus Collides with Police Car, Driver Cited for DUI

An intersection near the Central District police station in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago was the scene of a collision between a civilian and a marked squad car belonging to the Chicago Police Department in the early hours of Friday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m. the police squad car was heading north on Clark Avenue. A white Lexus  attempting to make a left turn pulled out in front of the squad car, causing the police car to collide with the Lexus.

Junior Hernandez, 37, was cited for driving under the influence and failure to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn. No one was injured in the case although the police car’s front bumper and right headlight were hanging off of the car.
