Elmhurst police beef up DUI patrols for Fourth of July celebrations
The City of Elmhurst Police Department in Illinois will be conducting more patrols to catch those driving under the influence of alcohol in preparation for this year’s Fourth of July celebrations. Celebrations around the Fourth of July are known for heavy drinking and too often, this is followed by party-goers driving home drunk at the end of the night.
Commander Jim Gandy said the “Drive Sober or get Pulled Over” campaign, which started on Tuesday, June 21 up to Monday, July 4’s celebration of America’s Independence Day, maintains a zero-tolerance policy. Members of the City of Elmhurst Police Department will be patrolling the city’s streets and make sure that the only motorists on the road are the sober ones; as for the not-so-sober ones, the police will make sure that they get punished for their violation.
