Drunk Driver Hits Teenage Girl, Sends Her to Hopsital
A walk down a road ended with a seventeen-year-old Illinois girl in critical condition in a medically induced coma.
The girl, a Manhattan resident, was walking with a twenty-year-old man near Division Street and Wilmington-Peotone Road on August 3rd. Just after 9 p.m., the couple was hit by a vehicle driven by Joliet resident, Fidencio Castillo.
The seventeen-year-old took a greater amount of the impact with the car and has a skull fracture along with a brain tear. She was taken to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee and was airlifted later to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. The Peotone man sustained a minor leg injury and refused medical treatment. Castillo, 28, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
