An accident in Wheeling between a car and a semi truck has killed a woman.
The driver of a car was westbound on Palatine Road in the evening of January 9th. Around 11:30 p.m. as the woman approached the intersection of Wheeling Road, her car crashed into a semi truck that was making a left turn onto Wheeling.
The woman car driver, who was in her 50s, was taken to Lutheran General Hospitalwhere she was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m. The driver’s name is pending release upon family notification. The semi driver was not injured in the accident.

A Momence man died after his truck collided with semi-truck on Monday evening.
Robert Sheehan, 78, was driving southbound on 8500 East Road on December 3rd. At 6:02 p.m. he began to cross at the intersection of 8500 East and Route 17 when his truck was struck by an eastbound semi-truck on Rt. 17. Sheehan’s body was ejected out of his vehicle.
Sheehan and the driver of the semi were taken to Riverside Medical Center. Sheehan was pronounced dead at 6:55 p.m. while the truck driver, who had no complaints of injury, was sent for an evaluation. Both lanes of Route 17 were closed for an hour and a half during the investigation of the accident site.

A man involved in a two-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Tinley Park is being held with charges pending.
Area police were called to the accident site at 183rd Street and 80th Avenue around 2:09 a.m. on December 2nd that involved at least two vehicles. Officers found Lubna Firdausi, 50, seriously injured in one vehicle. The Tinley Park woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but passed away just after 8:00 a.m.
The other driver, an 33-year-old Orland Park man, was treated and released from an area hospital. The 33-year-old man was questioned by police and taken into custody awaiting charges.

On Wednesday October 24, a crash in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago involving a minivan and a vintage Trans Am sent 6 people to areas hospitals.
The accident took place on the 4300 block of South Michigan Avenue around 10:45 a.m. Fire officials called an Emergency Medical Services Plan 1 which automatically sent six ambulances to the scene. Several people were trapped in the vehicles and had to be extricated from the two vehicles by emergency responders.
Passengers included two toddlers, who were sent to Comer Children’s Hospital in serious-to-critical condition. Two others were sent to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in serious-to-critical condition. One person was sent to Northwestern Memorial and the last was taken to Mercy Hospital.
No other information is available about how the accident occurred at this time.

Route 50 was the scene of a two-car accident that took the life of a child and sent her other family members to the hospital.
Ken Little, of New Lenox, and his two daughters, Katie and Karly, were returning home after visiting his mother in a Kankakee County nursing home. At about 10:19 a.m., Little pulled his Hyundai into the intersection of 6000 North Road and Route 50, heading eastbound. That is when a GMC SUV crashed into the car on the driver’s side.
Nine-year-old Karly Little was taken to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Eleven-year-old Katie Little was taken to Riverside along with her father. Katie was listed in stable condition after hitting her head in the crash. Ken Little, 53, was listed in serious condition. The driver in the GMC, a 22-year-old Kankakee resident, was taken to the hospital along with his one-year-old passenger.

A Martinton resident was sent to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital on Monday, July 16th after his motorcycle was hit by a car.
David Memeth, 50, was southbound on Indiana Avenue in Kankakee, just north of Court Street. At the same time Amjad Salemeh, of Tinley Park, was also southbound on Indiana Avenue when he switched lanes quickly in order to make a left turn onto Birch Street.
As Salemeh moved his 1998 Volvo to the left hand lane to make the turn, he hit Memeth’s 2011 Harley Davidson Super Glider. Police were called to accident site around 9:59 a.m. Memeth was sent to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee where he was treated and released. The 40-year-old Salameh was cited for improper lane usage.

A Lockport nurse on her way to work at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn was killed when her car was hit by a speeding driver on Sunday morning.
Heidi Roseen, of Lockport, was driving her Ford Explorer east on 95th Street as she was heading to work. Roseen entered the intersection of LaGrange Road and 95th Street on a green light when her vehicle was t-boned by a Ford F-120 pick-up truck driven by 25-year-old Orland Park man.
Roseen, 51, was taken to Palos Community Hospital and declared dead at 6:15 a.m. The other driver was taken to Palos as well for minor bruises and a cut on one hand. He stated he had been drinking since the night before and was taken to the sheriff’s lockup in Maywood.
The investigation into the accident has not been completed but initial findings show that the pickup truck was going over 60 mph.

Two people required extrication from their vehicle after a collision with a school bus in West Chicago.
On the morning of Wednesday, June 27 a privately owned school bus used by West Chicago Elementary School District 33 was carrying four students. Around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of East Forest Avenue and Route 59, a car rear-ended the bus. That action sent the bus into a guard rail.
There were two people in the car that had to be extricated from their vehicle. They were sent to Central DuPage Hospital but their condition is not known at this time. The children and the driver on the bus were not injured. Route 59 was closed after the collision and re-opened later in the morning.

The Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago was the scene of an accident when an SUV ran a red light on Sunday, June 17.
The driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was eastbound on Fullerton Avenue near Southport Avenue in the Lincoln Park Neighborhood. The Santa Fe ran the red light and crashed into a northbound MAC garbage truck. This action made the driver of the truck lose control of the vehicle.
The garbage truck then swerved to the sidewalk and hit several cars, two trees and several sign posts. No one was hurt in the accident but nine cars received varying degrees of damage. The driver of the SUV was cited for driving too fast for wet conditions and disobeying a red light signal.

A 30-year-old man from Onarga lost his life when his truck crashed into an SUV on Sunday, April 1, 2012 during mid-morning hours..
Around 10:40 a.m., Dustin Nichols was driving near the intersection of 1800 North and 500 East Roads in rural Gilman in his truck. Nichols was accompanied by his wife and child. Nichols drove through the stop sign at the intersection as Nancy Zachgo, 73, was approaching the intersection in her SUV. Zachgo was unable to stop in time and hit Nichols’ truck.
The Iroquois County Coronor’s office declared Nichols dead at the scene of the crash at 11:25 a.m. His wife and child were taken to Riverside Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Passengers in Zachgo’s SUV were treated at the scene or transported to area hospitals. There is no information at this time about Zachego’s condition or that of her passengers.
