A Calumet resident died in a motorcycle crash on Monday August 29, 2011. The accident occurred in the western portion of Kankakee County as a school bus was dropping off children after school.

Anthony Perry, 54, was driving eastbound on Illinois Route 17 near 8000 W. Road when he attempted to stop his vehicle. The motorcycle hit the back of a 2006 Honda Civic, sending Perry and his passenger, Karen Skripac, 52, off of the bike. The civic, driven by Alexis M. Thompson, then hit another car driven by Shirley Haley of Streator.

The two cars were stopped behind a school bus making  a drop-off stop.

Two victims were taken the hospital. Perry died as a result of the accident while Skripac was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Riverside Hospital. The civic had significant damage at the back end of the vehicle. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
