Carol Lynch died on Saturday, July 2, 2011 from her injuries.

The Pontiac resident was stepping off the curb and into the path of a 2001 Ford Explorer when she was hit. The driver was a 17-year-old whose name has not been released by authorities at this time.  It is reported that Lynch may have been talking on the phone when she was struck.

Debra Och  was working as a Roxanna school district teacher and principal when she was allegedly exposed to cancer-causing benzene released by the Shell Oil Company- and BP Products North America-owned and operated refineries. Och died in 2008 of leukemia. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of her widower and their daughter.
 
BP states it lacks enough knowledge about some of the allegations, including Debra Och’s illness. They also denied some of the allegations.

Four people were injured from this accident.
 
Jason Helmig was at the McDonald’s drive-thru with a five-year-old passenger when he began to suffer from an unidentified medical problem.

Helmig’s truck accelerated, going north. His truck hit three parked cars before hitting the Starbuck’s building, pushing the outer wall approximately four feet inside the café.
 
Bradley Police Chief Steve Coy stated to the Daily Journal that all four people appeared to have minor injuries from the crash. The café was closed as of January 14th due to the structural damage.

The patrolman was enroute to support Pulaski County authorities with a pursuit on Interstate 57. But at Illinois Route 3 and U.S. 51, the officer hit into a Toyota Camry and injured three occupants.
 
Two people from the Toyota Camry were taken to the hospital. A third passenger went for treatment later in the day in Paducah, Kentucky. The officer in the crash was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
 
The car chase, the reason for the original call for assistance, ended only after the suspect’s car hit a tree. The pursuit went through a construction zone at speeds of 120 mph. The suspect was arrested after hitting the tree.

on the Kankakee River over the Labor Day weekend. This event is put on by the American Power Boat Association and is an annual Labor Day tradition in Kankakee, Illinois

The driver of the boat, Dan Schwartz of San Leandro, California, was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, leaving many questions as to why the accident occurred in the first place. In an interview with the Daily Journal, chief referee Dee Berghauer stated that something happened but what is uncertain. There may have been a mechanical problem or the driver may have been unconscious.

“He accelerated towards the shore. Normally, obviously, you would end up slowing down,” stated Berghauer.

What is known is that Schwartz began accelerating as he headed towards shore. His boat hit two others with one of the three boats landing on the Kankakee County Golf Club shore.

The injured individuals were treated at the hospital while law enforcement officers investigated the cause of the collisions. Fog is believed to be a contributing factor in the accidents.
