Champaign woman injured after two-car collision

One woman was injured after  two-car accident occurred in Champaign last week.

According to Champaign police officials, the accident occurred as an 18-year-old man was injured while attempting to make a left turn at the intersection at Mattis and Kirbey. The man failed to see a northbound car and turned in front of it, causing the two vehicles to collide.

The passenger in the vehicle struck was injured and transported to Provena Covenant Medical Center in order to be treated.  The 18-year-old man was cited for failure to yield as a result of the crash.

Four students injured in Kankakee bus accident

Four students were injured as a result of a bus accident that occurred this morning on the way to District 111.

According to officials involved in the accident, the accident occurred at the corner of Orchard Avenue and Merchant Street, but that is the only accident detail that was given because officers were still on the scene.

Four students were transported to St. Mary’s Provena Hospital in order to be treated for their injuries, but their current conditions are not known.

Chicago Heights man killed in weekend accident

A man from Chicago Heights was killed in a car accident that occurred near Clifton on Saturday.

According to police officials, the man’s brother recently died and he was on his way to be with his family when he was involved in an accident.

The man was traveling eastbound on 2900N Road when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided into the back of a semitrailer. The man was ejected from the pickup truck as a result and died of injuries sustained.

Man receives 12 year prison sentence for DUI charge

A man has received 12 years in prison after being arrested for his sixth drunk driving crime.

According to Illinois police officials, The 55-year-old man was sentenced to 12 years in prison, three years supervised after release and another year of supervision for driving while he had a revoked license. This was the man’s sixth DUI offense and he currently has another case that is pending in another county at this time.

The prosecutors in his case originally asked for 10 years because he has never caused serious harm to another person, but officials stated that the way he was driving very well could have

Two people were injured after a two-car accident in Champaign

Two people were injured in car accident in Champaign on Monday afternoon.

According to police officials, the accident occurred at Mattis Avenue and William Street when a 55-year-old woman driving a car collided with a 52-year-old woman who was driving a sport utility vehicle.

Witnesses told police that the 55-year-old woman failed to yield at an intersection and this caused the two cars to collide. The collision caused the two cars to come to stop on opposite sides of the road.

One woman was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana and the other was transported to Provena Covenant Medical, also in Urbana.

Fog may be cause of chain-reaction accident on Interstate 55

A 17-car pileup on Interstate 55 may have been caused by dense fog in the area, according to officials.

According to officials, the accident occurred on the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 and caused them to be closed for hours, but it is unknown what the exact cause of the crash was.

Another accident occurred near Joliet when a semi-truck struck the back of a pickup truck that was stopped on the road’s shoulder. This accident occurred during the morning commute and caused one lane of traffic to be closed.

Three injured in Kankakee three-car accident

Three people were injured in three-car accident in Kankakee that occurred near 1150 E. Court Street.

It is unknown at this time what car caused the accident, but the three cars collided into each other at the intersection of Court Street and Hobbie Avenue.

Two of the cars came to a stop while in front of an apartment complex. Officials are still investigating in order to find out the cause of the crash. Three people were transported to Kankakee hospitals in order to be treated for their injuries, there has been no update on their condition.

SUV and garbage truck accident sends one to hospital

An SUV and garbage truck collided head-on in Manteno this morning causing one man to the sent to the hospital.

According to the local fire chief, one man in the SUV had to be extricated from the vehicle with the use of the Jaws of Life. It took emergency crews about five minutes to rescue the m an from the car

and an ambulance was waiting to take him to the hospital.

His current condition is not known at this time. Both vehicles received extensive damage. The accident is currently under investigation at this time. The driver of the garbage truck suffered only minor injuries and did not need medical attention.

Three people killed in different accidents near Kankakee

Three people were killed in two different car accidents on roadways in the Kankakee area.

The accidents have occurred in the past two days and the first one took place on Sunday night when two women were killed in a car crash near Peotone. The driver of the other car was charged with six counts of aggravated DUI.

The second accident occurred on Monday when a mo torcyclist tried

to stop when a school bus in front of him stopped. The two vehicles somehow collided and the motorcyclist was later pronounced dead as a result. The details of this accident remain under investigation at this time.

Two firefighters injured after tanker truck flips over

Two firefighters in Otto Township were injured after the t anker truck they were riding in was involved in

an accident.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the truck collided with an Oldsmobile while it was attempting a left turn. The 27-year-old driver of this vehicle and two firefighters in the truck were all transported to nearby hospitals to be treated.

One firefighter and the driver of the Oldsmobile were taken to Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee and the other firefighter was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

The truck had its lights and sirens activated when it passed a vehicle in the southbound lane and attempted to pass by the Oldsmobile and they collided.
