Illinois State Police reported that a 78-year-old woman died Thursday at St. John’s Hospital in Spaulding, Ill. after suffering serious injuries in a truck accident.
The victim, Norma Thompson of Sherman, collided with an 18-wheeler just before 8:30 a.m. when she pulled on to southbound Williamsville Road at Illinois 54. The semi truck, driven by Richard Leverton, 47, of Versailles, was headed east on Illinois 54 when it struck Thompson’s vehicle.
Leverton was reportedly wearing a seat belt and did not suffer any injuries. Police have yet to confirm whether or not Thompson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
After striking Thompson’s vehicle, the semi truck ran into Spaulding Village Hall before coming to a stop. Fortunately, damage to the village hall appears to be minimal and no one inside the building was injured as a result of the accident.

A motorcyclist lost his life after being struck by a semi-truck on a ramp on Interstate 290 while both vehicles were attempting to get on the ramp at the same time.
The accident occurred on Saturday, October 13th around 4:51 p.m. as the motorcyclist was getting on the eastbound entrance ramp of I-290 at Mannheim Road in Hillside. The motorcyclist collided with a semi-truck that was carrying a trailer.
The motorcyclist was pushed against a wall and then he was run over by the trailer. The unnamed motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 5:08 p.m.

One driver’s medical condition lead to a rollover accident by a tractor trailer on Interstate 80 on Wednesday morning.
Craig Horner was driving in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Ottawa, Illinois on July 25th when he went into diabetic shock. At 5:53 a.m., Horner’s car went into the same lane as a tractor trailer truck driven by Abraham Montanez. Swerving to avoid Horner, Montanez’s truck went into the center median and flipped over.
La Salle County Sheriff’s Office reported that Horner was taken to OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. He was treated and released. Montanez was offered medical attention at the scene of the accident but declined it. No tickets were issued in regards to the accident.

A pile-up accident in North Dakota lead to the death of one truck driver and a Chicago truck driver has been sentenced for ten-days in regards to that accident.
Chicago resident Nenad Sibinovic was charged and admitted guilt to driving too fast during a snow storm on December 30, 2010. He was sentenced to ten days in jail for causing the pile-up on Interstate 94 west of Fargo, North Dakota.
Lowell Balk was killed by the injuries he received when he left his truck to help others and was struck by another vehicle. A total of 100 vehicles were stranded because of that accident.

Three people were killed after a car and semi-trailer accident occurred in Kendall County on Route 126.
According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred just after 3 p.m. when a vehicle failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and collided with a semi-trailer. All three young people in the car were killed in the collision.
The 45-year-old driver of the semi-trailer was also taken to the hospital, but his injuries were described as non-life threatening. Police closed the highway in order to investigate the accident and clear the wreckage.
