A suit was filed last week by the parents of a now-7-year-old boy in the Cook County Circuit Court stating that the kindergartner was forced to crawl across an icy playground area after falling and breaking his leg.

The incident took place in January of 2011 when Rahul Chandani slipped on a mound of snow at his Skokie elementary school. The fall resulted in a concussion and a broken leg. He fell again and had to crawl back into the school building.

The boy’s mother, Priya Chandani, picked him up from school and noted a bump on his head. The boy was also complaining of dizziness. Chandani immediately took her son to the hospital. Rahul missed six weeks of school and needed six months of rehabilitation.

Car Crashes Into Bourbonnais home

Posted on October 17th, 2011 No Comments

Sunday evenings are usually a quiet time. But the residents of a Bourbonnais home had a surprise visitor when a car came crashing through the home on Toni Street.

Samantha Scheperle, 26, made an unexpected left turn on the street that led straight into the living room of the home that is in the middle of the block. Five adults were in the home at the time. Of those five, one resident and two guests were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neighbors noted that there was no apparent reason why the car veered suddenly into the home located in the middle of the block.

Toni Street does curve slightly 300 feet to the west of the home but neighbors only remember a car hitting a fire hydrant. Scheperle was ticketed for reckless driving but did not sustain injuries requiring medical attention.
