USDA to launch state-specific Twitter accounts

The USDA has announced that they will be launching state-specific Twitter accounts that will announce food recalls for each state.

As of now, the food recalls are announced on a general Twitter account, but officials are hoping with state-specific accounts, consumers will be able to learn of food recalls immediately after they are made.

The state-specific Twitter accounts will feature the recalls of meat, eggs and poultry according to where the products were distributed. A person just has to subscribe to this Twitter account in order for to be up to date on the breaking news. The Twitter account will also discuss how to keep food fresh in bad weather conditions.

Choking hazard causes recall of Build-A-Bear teddy bears

Nearly 300,000 teddy bears have been recalled by Build-A-Bear after it was found that they may pose a choking hazard to small children.

The issue may arise if the eye button becomes lose and  children put it in their mouth.

There have not been any injuries from the recall at this time.

The recalled product, the ‘Colorful Hearts Teddy’ bear was sold in the U.S. for $18 and Canada for $23. Consumers who purchased the bear are urged to bring it back to the store in order to change it out for another bear.
