Man killed in Kankakee motorcycle accident

A 33-year-old Momence man was killed in a motorcycle accident on North Schuyler Ave. in Kankakee.

Details of what caused the accident are still not available at this time, but it is known that the man was pronounced dead a the scene.

The man’s autopsy the following day revealed that the man suffered from multiple injuries as a result of the accident. The funeral for the amn was held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park.

Motorcycles can be an exciting and fun adventure, but if involved in an accident while riding one, serious injury can occur. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.

Mobile Home Fire Caused by Space Heater.

A fire at the Prairieview Mobile Home Park has been linked to a faulty space heater. The mobile home park is located at 1995 S. Schuyler Avenue in Kankakee.


 
Three mobile homes were damaged by the fire. One trailer was engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived according to Captain Mike Casagrande. Two other nearby homes suffered from heat damage.
 
A firefighter was hurt after falling through a floor while investigating the scene. Suffering only minor injuries, that firefighter was treated and released from a local hospital. No residents were injured as a result of this fire.

Accident in Rail Yard Leaves One Man Dead

A mishap in the Norfolk Southern rail yard in west Kankakee cost a Cabery man his life on Wednesday, February 9, 2011.
 
Stanley Watts, 43, was working in the yard in the afternoon as two train cars were being switched. According to the Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner, Watts became trapped between two cars and suffered multiple injuries that lead to his death. Watts leaves behind a wife and children
 
Because the accident happened on railroad property, Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials are not conducting an investigation.

The f’real brand Strawberry Banana Smoothies have been recalled due a possible allergen that could cause life-threatening results in some consumers.

The Smith Dairy Products Company has recalled the products after it was found that they may contain an undeclared nut product. Nearly 2 percent of Americans are allergic to nuts and this product could cause them to go into anaphylactic shock.

The product was recalled in 33 states including Illinois, Washington, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Nebraska, California, Colorado, and New York. Consumers who have purchased the product should return it for a refund.

Icy roads a factor in Wall Street crash

A single-car accident in Kankakee on South Wall Street was caused because of the icy roads.

According to police, a 17-year-old passenger was transported to the Riverside Medical Center and later to another hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, also 17, was ticketed as a result of

the accident. A third person that was also involved in the accident was uninjured. Illinois State Police continue to investigate the accident at this time in order to discover further details.
