Arrests Made in Traffic Detail
In an effort to crack down on a number of dangerous and reckless driving habits, local law enforcement officers from five departments arrested nine drivers and gave out 42 citations in only six hours on Thursday, Jan. 24.
The group of officers was comprised of the Illinois State Police District 21, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, Kankakee police, Bradley police, and the Kankakee Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group.
According to the state police, the officers “conducted a traffic enforcement detail,” on Interstate 57 and Illinois Routes 1, 17, 50, and U.D. Route 45/52 from 1 to 7 p.m., primarily focusing on a handful of specific violations including driving under the influence, failure to wear a seatbelt, and distracted driving.
Officers issued ninety-two written warnings and 42 citations by the end of the day.
