Accident Hurts Two Children On Rural Road

The start of the Labor Day weekend did not turn out well for two children riding a mini-bike in rural St. Anne.

On Friday night, a twelve-year-old St. Anne resident and an 11-year-old Momence resident were riding a mini-bike on East 4000S Road in a rural area of Kankakee County.  They were heading west on the road as was Robert Harris in a 2000 Kia Elantra when the Elantra hit the mini-bike.

The 12-year-old was taken to Riverside Medical Center while the 11-year-old was taken to Provena St. Mary’s Hospital. Both were severely injured according to the police report. The mini-bike did not have reflectors or lights on it. Harris reported not seeing the mini-bike before the accident.
